No Foreigner Shall Enter Stone – Color Photo (72 DPI) 1-Year License
$20.00
2020 Color photo of the “No Foreigner Shall Enter” warning stone inscription, written in Greek and located at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
The full text reads, “No foreigner shall enter within the forecourt and the balustrade around the sanctuary. Whoever is caught will have himself to blame for his subsequent death.”
A part of a larger stone from the time of Jesus prohibiting gentiles to trespass into the Temple courts. The stone fragment was discovered and embedded into a Moslem building near one of the northern gates to the Temple Mount. One interesting fact is that there was an identical stone discovered in the 19th century on display at the Istanbul Archaeological Museum.
Josephus said, “in this (balustrade) at regular intervals stood slabs giving warning, some in Greek. others in Latin characters, of the law of purification stating that no foreigner was permitted to enter the holy place..” (Flavius Josephus, Jewish War, V.v.2)
“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us” – Ephesians 2:13-14
