Color photo of a bust of the Roman Emperor Hadrian.

This is a statue of the Emperor Hadrian who changed the name of Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina in 131 A.D. He also changed the name of Judea to Palestina. The Jews revolted under Bar Kochba and after a 3 year bloodbath the Jews were expelled from the city permanently. Hadrian erected the Temple of Jupiter on the Temple Mount and erased every trace of Jewish life from Jerusalem.
