Color photo of the Facade of the Temple coin which was struck during the Bar Kokhba Revolt against Rome (132-135 AD). The coin is also known as the “Four Species” of Sukkot and the Temple Facade.

This coin contains the only visible likeness of Herod’s Temple which was destroyed and buried by the Romans in 70 AD.

The coin is a bronze coin struck after Jerusalem was liberated by Bar Kokhba, and inscribed with, “Second  Year  to the Freedom of Israel”, 134-135. It is now located in the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

Some of the symbols include: The only known likeness of the façade of the Temple in Jerusalem, the Four Species, and trumpets. These  symbols revealed the messianic nature of the revolt, and a heartfelt desire for the restoration of Jerusalem and her Temple.
