Color photo of the Sarcophagus of Herod the Great located at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. When Herod’s tomb was discovered at the Herodium there were three stone sarcophagi broken in pieces. Because this one in particular stood out among the 3 and was broken into hundreds of pieces, it is assumed that this was indeed the sarcophagus of Herod the Great. Especially because of the decorative ornamentation with rosettes and palmettes This is because the Jewish rebels would have ventured their anger upon it, if it was indeed Herod’s.

These images can be used for projection, lamination or color print from postcard to poster size. [One Year License]
